Gillian Watts

Gillian is a freelance editor with more than 30 years’ experience in writing, editing, and indexing. With an academic background in architecture, history, and museum studies, her first career was in the heritage field. After several years as decorative arts conservator at the Royal Ontario Museum, she provided conservation and museological guidance to Ontario community museums and later to the Ontario Heritage Trust. A graduate of Ryerson University’s Book Publishing Certificate program and recipient of its Marsh Jeanneret Award for excellence, she has operated Word Watch Editorial Services since 1998. Gillian specializes in copy and stylistic editing, proofreading, and indexing. She is a long-term member of the Editors’ Association of Canada and the Indexing Society of Canada and has served on the executive of both organizations. Gillian has a cool, distinctive style and a discriminating eye.
