 | Eileen Argyris, Writer
Born in Toronto, Canada, Eileen Argyris moved east along the shoreline of Lake Ontario from the sprawling city to the scenic rolling farmland of Northumberland County in 1971. Since 1978, she has been engaged with the printed word, first running a small community newspaper in her home village of Colborne, Ontario, then becoming the editor of a daily newspaper, and then branching out into freelance journalism and other types of non-fiction, mainly historical writing.
During her newspaper career Eileen has received the following four awards from the Canadian Community Newspaper Association; Best Front Page, Best All Round Newspaper, Better Newspaper Competition, and Best Editorial Page. |

How Firm a Foundation is her history of the Village of Colborne and the Township of Cramahe which surrounds it. This beautiful, hard-bound book was completed as a millennium project at the behest of the local government, in 2000.
Eileen is now based in historic Port Hope, Ontario, where she writes a regular newspaper column called Cornerstones, exploring Canadian heritage buildings with entertaining and informative stories. She also writes regular columns on agricultural issues, contributes historical and human-interest stories to magazines, and works part-time in an instructional capacity for the journalism program at Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario.
Loyal Ties, Reid Family History - Volume 1, published in 2005, is one of Eileen's largest projects and we are very proud of her work on this beautiful Family History Book.
Another of Eileen's success stories is "The Binty Book". Just completed in 2010, the Life Story of Margaret "Binty" Robertson is a memoir prepared for Binty's family.
"I have loved working with Timelines since 2001, pulling together the facts and clothing the memories of long ago with colour and feeling," she says. "After our research, I always feel as though I personally know the characters in the family and I love to bring them to life for their descendants."
Let Eileen do the same for your family!
